Given, Savannah went to the grocery store

Let the number of bottles of soda bought be m, and number of bottles of juice be n

Each bottle of soda has 35 grams of sugar and each bottle of juice has 20 grams of sugar.

Savannah purchased 4 times as many bottles of juice as bottles of soda

Then, number of bottles of juice = 4 x number of bottles of soda

n = 4m ---- eqn (1)

And they all collectively contain 230 grams of sugar.

We have to determine the number of bottles of soda purchased and the number of bottles of juice purchased.

Now, we know that, they all have 230 grams of sugar.

Then, total sugar = 230 grams

sugar in soda + sugar in juice = 230 grams

number of soda bottles x sugar content per bottle + number of juice bottles bought x sugar content per bottle = 230 grams

m x 35 grams + n x 20 = 230

35m + 20n = 230

35m + 20(4m) = 230 [ from (1) ]

35m + 80m = 230

115m = 230

m = 2

So, 2 bottles of soda, then, n = 4(2) = 8 bottles of juice.

Hence, savannah bought 2 bottles of soda and 8 bottles of juice.
