Hong Kong is a small area surrounding the city of Hong Kong. This area is disputed for quite some time now, and it is not really clear what its status actually is. The dispute about Hong Kong is between China and the Western countries, as well as the citizens of Hong Kong itself.

The people of Hong Kong, at least the majority of them, want independence, and in many ways this area resembles an independent nation. On the other hand, China considered Hong Kong as part of its own territory, so there is Chinese presence all the time, especially police and military forces to keep things under control. The West is opposing the Chinese politics, and they support Hong Kong to be independent. All of this leads to a real mess when it comes to the politics of this place.
