Compare and contrast the role of nature and the natural world in two poems from this unit: Walt Whitman’s “Come Up from the Fields Father” and Sara Teasdale’s “There Will Come Soft Rains.”

Respuesta :

In the two poems the role of nature is used very different but also similar. In the poem “Come up to the field” the use of imagery helps the reader paint a picture in his mind of the calm Ohio autumn day. Then this peaceful setting is abruptly changed when the letter about the son arrives.

In “There Will Come Soft Rains” the use of imagery is also present to picture the smell of rain and ground, the sound of nature, birds and frogs singing at night. Then goes to include personification of spring bringing the idea that nature would not notice if we perished. Life on earth would keep on moving.

I hope it helps, Regards.
