If you are talking about scripted programming. There is usually something sacrificed for another. For example, the characters storyline could be brought to front and center, but the overall storyline is weaker as a result. There may be so many characters that it becomes difficult to follow. Since TV shows cost so much to make, the sets are often limited and a lot reused.

My favourite television show is Who wants to be a millionaire.The best about the show, its strongest element is that one tries to answer the questions without any help.It is good because all your knowledge is required and you have to be quick.Doing this, specially if you are an adult and your job does not pose any challenges for you, might give you the chance of showing how good you are at certain subjects you thought were useless at school.On the other hand, the show becomes boring, which is the weakest point, when you see that people who answer the questions have been put there for the sake of having more viewers and perhaps know nothing but just get lucky.They could be people who have had to face a lot of difficulties and find some hope in the show.

Finally, there are always good and bad things about a show one likes.Ideally one watches it to forget about daily problems and feel a little better about one´s life.
