Well, first of all what do you think is the answer? Now with the GUARD cells the plants hormones can send signals to the guard cells which can help the guard cells figure out whether or not it needs to open or close the stomata. And if the plant is losing water too quickly, the guard cells may close the stomata to help prevent it from happening! :)
