The lumbar plexus is a network of nerves that is responsible for transmission of the signals in the skin and musculature of the lower limb to brain.
The largest nerve of the lumbar plexus is the femoral nerve, which is connected to the anterior(inner) thigh muscles and some part of the skin distal to the inguinal ligament.
Whereas, the ilioinguinal nerve is located the anterior surface of the scrotum(in males) or labia majora(in females).
