How can you tell the difference between a parallelogram and a Trapezoid

A parrellagram has two parallel pairs, while a trapezoid only has 1 pair.

A parallelogram has two pairs of parallel sides. A trapezoid only has to have one pair of parallel sides. So a parallelogram is a trapezoid (a special case of one), but a trapezoid is not, in general, a parallelogram.
