A group of sixth grade students dedicate their day off of school for "Columbus Day" to the Native, First Nation peoples who were decimated as a result of Columbus’s "voyage" by learning about Native American cultures, customs, and histories. They use this new knowledge to build accurate models of missionization for their final California Mission Projects, reflecting native people's perspectives of the brutal history of California Missions and demonstrating that although they suffered tremendously, some Native Peoples of California survived and are now thriving and revitalizing their culture, reclaiming their sovereignty of their ancestral lands.
