(Cay the book)

Respuesta :

In summary, The Cay follows the story of young Phillip, a white boy from the island Curaco, and Timothy, an old black man. The two are shipwrecked together and have to learn how to work with each other in order to survive.

One conflict, which serves as the climax of the two's relationship, is the fight that they eventually have after building tension. This develops because of Timothy pushing Phillip to do what he needs to survive despite it being uncomfortable and Phillip's racist mindset, which he took from his mother. This conflict helps to resolve their issues and grow closer as friends, particularly Phillip, who realizes that Timothy is simply doing what he must to keep them both alive and how incorrect his view of him was. Their new, positive dynamic helps them to better work with each other, and serves to give Phillip emotional conflict after Timothy's death.
