Explanation:

A stroke that is made on the side of the player’s body opposite to that of the racket’s side is referred backhand stroke (with the right-handed player striking from the left side; and left-handed player from the right side.

This is applied when the opponent player strikes or hit the shuttlecock towards the player’s open side (right side for the left-handed and left for the right-handed).

This is one of the toughest strokes and requires great strength and skill to play the shot. A perfect backhand grip, wrist action, footwork, body position, shuttle position, hitting angle and action, recovery, tension all determines the power of a backhand stroke.
