Louis fourteenth was also called "Gift of God" because he was the first child born to Louis thirteenth after 23 years of his marriage. He upsurged the throne after the death of his father when he was 4 years old. His mother served as a regent and a council of minister was set up to help him to rule. But Louis has realized the threat of ministers and the experience of civil war (Fronde) made him quite suspect-able to the nobility. After the death of his chief minister, Mazarin in 1661, he declared that he wished to rule without Chief Minister. To avoid the rebellious threat from the nobility, he lured them to his court and made them habitual to the lavish lifestyle.
