"I am the poet of the woman the same as the man, / And I say it is as great to be a woman as to be a man," are good examples that Walt Whitman views human beings as equal. He speaks for the whole of human experience, not simply limiting himself to a man's experiences. He recognizes that there are universal feelings and experiences that we all undergo, no matter our gender or other differences that may set us apart on the surface. Hope this helps.
I am the poet of the woman the same as the man,
And I say it is as great to be a woman as to be a man,
It is a trifle, they will more than arrive there every one, and still pass on.
