Ms. Slade pick up coffee on her way to work one morning. She happen to see an old friend while she was at the coffee shop. They talked for what seemed likely only five minutes but they actually talked for over 20 minutes. Mrs. Slade gasped when she looked at her watch. As she walked in the door to her office, her manager asked her why she was late. Who is the minor character in the passage?

The friend and the boss would be the minor characters. I say this because we do not know as much about them as we do about Ms. Slade, even though we do not know much about her either.
