Explanation: in fact, Europe got divided. Protestant priests, groups and churches appeared, some kings aligned themselves with Protestatism. Protestants questioned authority of the pope and his institutions, questioned Catholic rites and criticized Catholic activities in politics. Many kingdoms rejected pope´s authority and got independent. Catholicism became much weaker (in Europe).
