Answer&Explanation:
Water is absorbed from the surface to the underground water where it get preserved as it recharges aquifers however through this process when water percolate through the surface to the groundwater it contains polluted surface particles and as water flows it takes this polluted particles or materials with it to the rivers, ponds and lakes. Hazardous chemicals can be transferred to the rivers and underground water through the flow of water from the surface and through percolation to the groundwater.
The land water relationship can be best understood through the water cycle. Heat and rain are the main participants under water cycle.
What is water cycle?
Water cycle can be defined as continuous movement of water between the earth and the atmosphere.
The main processes taking place under water cycle are:
- evaporation
- condensation
- transpiration
- precipitation
For the conservation of water resources, land pollution needs to be controlled in order to get more availability of water.
Polluted land is likely to absorb less water. Also the water so absorbed will take along the impurities of the land making the ground water polluted.
