After interphase, cell division begins. Didactically, mitosis is usually divided into four phases:

  • Prophase
  • Metaphase
  • Anaphase
  • and Telophase.

With this information, we can conclude that before the start of mitosis, the cell is in a period called interphase. In this stage, the cell has its DNA duplicated and the production of proteins occurs.
