Under Castro’s rule, Cuba became a self-declared atheist state where Christians were harassed. But, the Church played a significant political role, it brought a huge influence through the educational system. Then, in 1992 the Cuban Constitution got amended and it was declared a secular state. It was no longer an atheist Republic.
