1.)Because of the discoveries described in this article, scientists changed their estimate of the number of species living in coral reefs worldwide. Why did scientists change their estimate?

2.)What is the new estimate of the number of species living in coral reefs throughout the world?

3.)Why are coral reefs given the nickname “rain forests of the sea”?

Respuesta :

I’m not sure about what the article says , but from my knowledge:

1. Only a small percent of the sea has been discovered. As marine studies progress and discover more and more areas, they realize there is more than their estimate. Plus, the population is constantly changing.

2. As of now, it’s believed that there is around 1 to 9 million species in coral reefs

3. This is because it houses an incredible amount of different species. And is structurally a perfect area for sea animals to live and thrive.

Have you ever been to see the Great Barrier Reef? I've been dying to go, but just in the last 10 years their reefs have depleted by 30%. Because everything a human will touch will eventually die, in this case curious tourists makes that saying literal. It's no wonder the reefs, which are the many species's homes, are dying off because of global warming, trash dumping and tourists bare hands.

It's so sad that, "the rainforests of the sea" are dying, because they truly are breathtaking and very much in it's on way captured the beauty of a rainforest.
