Arnetta was excited to take part in the march. As a matter of fact, she even wanted to be arrested with the other protesters and was disappointed when she wasn't. Wash, on the other hand, only observed the march and the arrests taking place. His experience taught him that the police were capable of murder, so he was glad to not be one of those getting arrested.
Who were Arnetta and Wash?
- Arnetta Streeter was one of the participants in the famous march against segregation and discrimination that took place in 1963. Washington Booker III, or Wash, was also there at the march, but only observing it.
- Both Arnetta and Wash were present at a historical event, but they had different experiences there. Arnetta was excited to be a part of the march, and she wished to be arrested with other participants.
- Wash, however, did not wish to be involved since he knew the police were capable of doing awful things to black protesters.
