In 1985, consumer rights concept was approved by United nations through  United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection which expanded them to include four basic rights that were: rights to satisfaction, to redress, to consumer education, to a Healthy Environment and the old right include, rights  safety, to be informed, to choose and to be heard.

It is the law which safeguards the consumers from abusive and fraudulent business practices. Many fraudulent sell illegitimate goods to the sellers who are basically with lack of awareness and these laws hold such sellers  and punish them under various statutes to uphold unethical and fraudulent business practices.

Consumer protection makes the economy to grow in a stable manner. Demand drives innovation in the market and the sellers have to keep up fair price by providing consumers with quality goods and services.
