First you must distribute the minus sign to the number bolded bellow:
(-7 + 3i) - (2 - 6i)
(-7 + 3i) + (-2 + 6i)
-7 + 3i - 2 + 6i
Now you must combine like terms. Imaginary numbers can only combine with imaginary and real number can only be combined with real numbers:
(-7 + (-2) ) + (3i + 6i)
-9 + 9i
