The figure is made up of a semicircle and a triangle.
Find the area of the figure.
Use a = 3.14

Area of the figure = 63.25 ft²
Solution:
Base of the triangle = 8 ft
Height of the triangle = 6 ft
[tex]$\text{Area of the triangle} =\frac{1}{2} \times \text{base} \times \text{height}[/tex]
[tex]$=\frac{1}{2}\times8\times6[/tex]
[tex]$=24[/tex]
Area of the triangle = 24 ft²
Diameter of the semi-circle = 10 ft
Radius of the semi-circle = 10 ÷ 2 = 5 ft
The value of π = 3.14
Area of the semi-circle = [tex]\frac{1}{2}\times\pi r^2[/tex]
[tex]$=\frac{1}{2}\times3.14 \times5^2[/tex]
= 39.25 ft²
Area of the semi-circle = 39.25 ft²
Area of the figure = Area of the triangle + Area of the semi-circle
= 24 ft² + 39.25 ft²
= 63.25 ft²
Hence Area of the figure = 63.25 ft²
