Point A(–4, 2) is reflected over the line x = 3 to create the point A'. What are the coordinates of A'?
A. (–4, –1)
B. (–4, 8)
C. (–1, 2)
D. (10, 2)

I also have like half an hour to answer it...
I'm also probly having a blonde moment. BUT You can let me know.
Thanks! :)

Respuesta :

If x = 3, then the line we are reflecting off of is a vertical line. Therefore, the y-value of our coordinate will remain the same at 2.
Furthermore, since the line is 3 units to the right of the origin and the origin is 4 places to the right of our reflecting point, then our new point will be 3 + 4 units to the right of the line of reflection.

3 + 4 = 7

So our x-coordinate is positive 7.

The finished resulting coordinate would be (7, 2), however, this is not on the list...
Anyways, I guess (10, 2) is closest to the answer I got, so maybe that's the right answer. :P
Anyways, if someone checks this and my math is faulty, please report this answer.
Hope that helped (even though it didn't) xD
The answer is
D. (10, 2)

because i don't think its going to become a negative after reflection and to fit the needs of the slope (x = 3) ...

Anyways good luck :)
