Ancient Egypt was a Theocracy, which is a form of government where the leader claims to rule on behalf of a god/deity or is themselves considered divine. They have both control over the church and state. Pharaohs were considered divine because when they were crowned, the spirit of Horus (a god) supposedly entered them. This made them both politically powerful and spiritually powerful, making their society a theocracy.
Hope that wasn't too much...
Good luck :)
