Im not going to pretend i know anything about theatrics, but i can say this; rituals and ceremonies often revolve around chanting and/or dancing. Some include spastic body movements and can be looked at as theatrical. This is because in theatrics, most things are highly exaggerated. Down to the very expression on the people on stage, theatrics is highly exaggerated. So a ceremony or ritual can often be perceived as theatric because of how the body language correlates to theater
