There are two main reasons why experts tend to trust the reliability of information obtained from scholarly journals, major newspapers and well-known magazines, but use caution when accessing information from Wikipedia, online forums and blogs.
The first reason is that the sites they consider trustworthy are written by experts in their field. This means that they are likely to be well-informed about the subject they are discussing. On the other hand, the other type of sources can be written by anyone, including people with no real knowledge in the area.
The second reason is that the trustworthy sites are peer-reviewed. This means that the information presented there is checked by other knowledgeable people. This system does not occur in the other type of sources.
