A cross-sequential design is a method used in research that combines a dual study of a group of people having the same characteristics such as age, gender, location, education,and researching how their lives are affected in short term and over a long period of time period usually through out their years. ie it is a research method that combines both a longitudinal design and a cross-sectional design.

Combining these study has helped correct errors and unnecessary developmental assumptions that might be found in either of these designs alone. Also, while longitudinal can be can be expensive and time consuming. The dual design helps to reduce such problems.
