please help me. I will make it worth your while by giving brainliest answer and 50 points. no BS You will be writing a 5-7 paragraph letter to a hypothetical U.S. company deforesting a rainforest in South America. This letter be used to persuade the company on why what they are doing is wrong, and why they should stop. Consider the following questions while writing your letter:
• What are the primary causes of deforestation?
• What are the impacts of deforestation?
• Who benefits? Who loses?
• Do the benefits outweigh the costs?
• Are there any alternatives to current practices?
• Why does it matter?

Explanation: Dear Sirs:

I am writing today to urge you as strongly as possible to stop your deforestation program in the rain forest there in South America. Although for you the objective is financial gain, for the rest of us it is the destruction of land, habitats, people and eventually, the Earth.

Deforestation is a process where large areas of forests are cut down to be used for farming, grazing land for cattle, and housing. This is especially true inn the South American rain forest where you are working. These are not necessarily bad things, but the effects of deforestation are devastating. Deforestation is achieved by cutting or burning of trees from a widespread area. Why does this matter?

When deforestation occurs in an area, animals and plants are forced to move from their natural habitat. For many of these species they are unable to survive in new forced into areas. When the trees are cut down, the stumps are then burned to release nutrients into the soil to enrich it for farming. This is called, "slash and burn." However because of the heavy rains, and no tree roots to hold the soil, the nutrients are washed away and soon the farmers must move to a new area, and start the process all over.

Further, deforestation can cause climate change. Obviously without the trees available to capture the Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, stopping the gases from accumulating in the atmosphere and warming our planet. Climate change is a real issue that must be addressed if our planet is to survive.

With all of these problems, what are the benefits? Who wins? Who loses? The benefits are to your company who now have a large tract of freshly cleared land that can be used for farming, cattle grazing, logging or housing. As always the almighty dollar comes to the forefront. The losers are the plants, animals and indigenous people who live in that area. Forced to relocate, many of all the groups will not survive. With the increased use of deforestation, the benefits are far outweighed by the cost- our planet Earth.

What are the alternatives to land desertification?  There are better and more innovative ways to grow food and clear land, one of which is sustainable land management. It is a process to prevent, minimize, or reverse land degradation. There are organizations worldwide that will help you to find better solutions than deforestation to reduce carbon pollution, to safeguard arable land, repair degradable land and to manage water supplies more effectively.

In closing, I strongly urge you to reconsider what you are doing in an area that can ill afford any more destruction. Why does it matter? Perhaps it doesn't to us in 2020, but to our children's children it will matter greatly if climate change destroys the Earth.

Dear “[Insert Company Name]” Company:

My name is [Insert Name]  and today I am contacting you regarding your Logging Program.

For decades your company has been responsible for the destruction of hundreds if not thousands of rainforests in the continent of South America.

Your company may see the destruction of these rainforests as more financial gain, the rest of the world including myself see it as the destruction of entire ecosystems, habitats, land and eventually of the Earth itself.

Now, you may ask yourself: “What is Deforestation?”. Deforestation is a process in which large areas of forests are cut down to make way for things such as housing, farming, and even commercial buildings. The effects of the Deforestation caused by your company is especially evident in South America where your teams are stationed at.

Although the purpose to destroy these forests is not wrong the effects left behind by the work of your people is devastating for both the people and the animals of the area. “How is it devastating?” you may ask yourself. Well, deforestation is achieved by cutting or even burning trees down in a massive area.

When deforestation happens in an area many of the plants and animals that were housed in the area are suddenly forced to move out of their Natural Habitat and for many of the species that lived in the destroyed area are forced to move somewhere else where most of them perish.

After these trees are cut down the stumps left behind, but the trees are lit on fire to release nutrients into the soil where they stood to enrich it for the incoming farmers. But unfortunately for these farmers heavy rains cause the nutrients to be washed away making the soil unable to hold any tree roots. Due to this, farmers are forced to move to another area where the same process happens repeatedly.

Deforestation can also help fuel Climate Change. With trees being cut down and burned Greenhouse Gases such as Carbon Dioxide can no longer be captured which then leads to the gases accumulating in the Earth’s atmosphere which then causes our planet to warm up drastically.

Now that you have these problems in mind let’s think of the gains and losses of deforestation.

Obviously, your company ends up gaining massive amounts of income thanks to the reputation of always having freshly cleared land at your disposal. But what about the loses?

Hundreds of animals, plants and people who live in the area are forced to relocate to another area where (as mentioned before) they struggle to survive with many of them dying.

With the incrementing amount of people wanting land-clearing services the gains eventually overshadow the loses.

There are many other very innovative options that your company can take to avoid further harming our planet. A great option is Sustainable Land Management, a less destructive process that minimizes and prevents land degradation. There are also thousands of organizations around the world that will offer their help to help you find alternate and better solutions to deforestation.

In conclusion, I urge you to consider other ways of maintaining land without having to cause mass destruction to the ecosystems. Maybe we don’t see the effects that deforestation is causing Earth right now, but I assure you that the choices we take today we shape our future.
