Ellis Island was an old site that opened in 1892 as an immigration station. This island designated America Millions of Migrants from Europe, Germany, Ireland, and Britain. There were several reasons that these immigrants left their homes such as drought, famine, war and religious persecution. These immigrants were marked with information from their ship's registry, they waited in long queues for their legal and medical inspections, which was mandatory for their entry into the United States.
