Feeling humiliated and diminished by World War I and the Treaty of Versailles, what leader did the Germans
believe would help them become a powerful nation once again?

Germany wanted to become strong again. The most hated part of the treaty was the guilt clause. They also suffered as their army and land was cut back. When Hitler came to power in 1933, he worked gradually to remove some of the rules of the Versailles treaty, using Britain's sympathies towards German (appeasement) to gain back land( Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia, Austria etc) and rebuild its army ( building up machinery, navy and conscription etc). WW2 started when Germany invade Poland with Russia against appeasement policy
