Find the value of y (Eliminate) :

-2x + y = 1 × -4

-4x + y = -1 × -2

8x - 4y = -4

8x - 2y = 2 _

- 2y = -6

y = -6 ÷ (-2)

y = 3

Find the value of x (Substitute) :

-2x + y = 1

-2x + 3 = 1

-2x = 1 - 3

x = -2 ÷ (-2)

x = 1

The value of :

x = 1

y = 3
