Activity
The planning commission in the village of Smalltown, which has a population of 200 people, is trying to decide between building
a new soccer complex and building a new swimming pool. A consulting firm has determined that the probability of the
community supporting the building of a soccer complex or a swimming pool is 0.95. The firm has also found that the probability
of the community supporting the soccer complex is 0.60, and the probability of the community supporting the swimming pool
is also 0.60. Because each project had the support of a majority of the population, the commission decided to build both the
soccer complex and the swimming pool. When the decision was announced, the community presented the commission with a
recall petition signed by 75% of the population of Smalltown.
