The number of bacteria in a Petri dish triple every month. If the dish started with 2500 bacteria, how many will there be in 10 months? Write an equation and show how you know?

Let m be time in months.   When m=0 we have 2500, when m=3 we have double that.  That makes our equation

[tex]A = 2500 \cdot 2 ^{m/3}[/tex]

For 10 months we get

[tex]A = 2500 \cdot 2^{10/3}[/tex]
