During World War I, freedom of speech was limited through laws that stopped criticism of the government. In your opinion, why
do you think the Texas government would create these laws?
These cases helped form the modern idea of the First Amendment right of free speech. But the conflict between patriotism and free expression continues to be an issue a century later.
Texas probably thought that if they made this change they would make people agree with them of the fact that they should of gone to war. This way anyone that tried to make that chnage or influenced people noyt to participate in this action would have a great consequence. Do to the fact that all that America wanted to do is go to War and win.
