A convergent boundary is a boundary where tectonic plates collides with each other. Convergent boundary is a region of mild to high earthquake activity. The collision maybe between a continental plate and oceanic plate , continental plates or oceanic plates.

When two plates converge the result will depend on the type of plate they are made of. When oceanic plates collides with a continental plates the denser oceanic plates will subduct or plunge beneath the continental plates. The continental plate is less dense an more buoyant so it will  conveniently override the oceanic plate.

Continental - continental plates collisions causes an uprising since both plates are buoyant and less dense. This kind of collision creates one of the highest mountain ranges.

When two oceanic plates collides the denser plate subduct into the mantle. This subduction result to an oceanic trench, volcanic arc and earthquakes. The Philippine plate comprises of oceanic crust while the pacific plate is an oceanic crust . Therefore,a collision between this two plates is an oceanic- oceanic plate collision. The collision between this two plates causes an Island arc known as Mariana Island.
