How should the nation have responded to the growth of poverty in society? It is their own fault that some people are poor. Rich people are “better” than poor people. The government has a responsibility to help poor people. Private citizens have a responsibility to help poor people. People and businesses should be left alone to succeed or fail on their own.

The government must necessarily assume a role of social responsibility through which to help the most disadvantaged sectors of the population to satisfy their basic needs and guarantee a decent standard of living.

This is so because, basically, the government is a representation of the political power of the people, which is exercised through voting. Therefore, since the government also represents these low-income people, it is logical that it has within its powers to help them improve their living conditions.

In addition, the social well-being of these people contributes indirectly to that of the rest of society, since, for example, by having higher incomes they will be able to consume more and participate actively in the economy, generating greater profits for other people, thus activating economy.
