D. Written language did not belong to the prehistoric era.
In the prehistoric era, humanity was still learning about its surroundings and was not very advanced. Our major achievements at the time were:
- making stone tools
- controlling fire and,
- hunting big animals.
At that point, humanity could not read or write which is why they were unable to record history and why the era was known as prehistoric. They were however, able to paint.
In conclusion, the humans of the prehistoric era were unable to write but they still passed some knowledge along through rock painting.
