What was role of Bolsheviks?
The Bolsheviks were a revolutionary group dedicated to Karl Marx's theories. They held the view that eventually the working classes would be freed from the economic and political shackles of the ruling classes. A true socialist society built on equality might then be constructed once they had accomplished this.
The Bolsheviks, in contrast to the Mensheviks, thought that this revolution should go more quickly because the workers were not yet prepared to rule themselves. In order to maintain control until Russia was modernised, the Bolsheviks would establish a Dictatorship of the Proletariat.
