Mark Antony was one of Caesar´s strongest and most constant supporters, even though Antony showed to have his own agenda as well by backing Julius Caesar when he took control of the Roman government over the Senate. Because of the support of such strong leaders as Antony, Caesar was able to successfully turn himself into the ruler of Rome, and because he also became so popular with the middle and low classes of the city, Caesar was successful in his ambitions. However, this was not meant to last, as many of the Roman Senators, such as Marcus Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus, opposed the situation, and a plot was formed to murder Caesar. The only reason why Antony did not die after his leader was destroyed, was because Brutus opposed the idea. On the day of the funeral of Caesar, which was finally authorized by Brutus despite the opposition of the others, Mark Antony was allowed to deliver a speech that has been known for its power to rise the anger of the Roman people who loved Caesar, undermine the control of the conspirators, including Brutus and manipulate the people through the use of demagogic language and bodily expressions that exhalted the emotions of the crowd. This is why the correct answer here is D: the only thing that Antony did not attempt with his speech was to befriend and support the conspirators.
