A standard Olympic pool is 3m deep,50m long, and 25 m wide. A company manufactures cubes that are 5cm a side. How many of these will fit into a drained Olympic pool?

Respuesta :

How to solve?

To solve this question, firstly we have to find the Volume of the space occupied by the pool. Then, we will find the volume of each cube with given dimension. Dividing the volume of pool by the volume of cube will give the nukbr of cubes that can fit in the drained pool.

Solution:

We have,

  • Pool of dimension = 3 m × 50 m × 25 m
  • Cube with dimension = 5 cm × 5 cm × 5 cm

Volume of cuboid = lbh and Volume of cube = side³

Finding the volume of cuboid,

⇛ l × b × h

⇛ 3 m × 50 m × 25 m

⇛ 3750 m³

Finding the volume of cube[tex],[/tex]

[Remember : The unit of side of cube is in cm, hence we have to convert it into m first]

⇛ side³

⇛ (5 cm)³

⇛ (5/100 m)³

⇛ 5³ / 100³ m³

⇛ 125 / 1000000 m³

No. of cubes that can fit:

⇛ Volume of drained pool / Volume of cube

⇛ 3750 m³ / 125/1000000 m³

⇛ 3750000000 / 125 cubes

30,000,000 cubes

30 million cubes can be accomodated inside the pool.
