Schizophrenia is a long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation.

Symptoms may include social isolation, agitation, compulsive behavior, hostility, delusion, amnesia, mental confusion, anger, anxiety, hallucinations, paranoia, hearing voices, depression, and many more.

Symptoms of Schizophrenia usually start between the ages of 16 and 30, with men usually experiences symptoms earlier than women. Schizophrenia is not common in people over the age of 45, and is a rare occurrence in children.
