CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME I have to learn about the Roanoke Colony and i dont understand it can someone please help

Ok, so I watched American Horror Story and there was a whole season on it. But basically they were a group of English colonists that arrived in North Carolina. Apparently, the colony went missing. OOO creepy. I think, they still haunt that place.

So this John white left to go back for England for a while I think and he came back and everyone was gone and he looked everywhere and couldn't find anything except the word Croatoan carved on a tree and till this day they still don't know if Indians killed them or they just moved or they just disappeared.
