How do I keep a fictional narrative short?

I always make my stories go on forever, and this has caused me to be weeks behind in schoolwork. I have a hard time reeling it in because as I write, new ideas always flood my brain. Any helpful tips would be much appreciated!

Answer:

This helps some of the time for me, make the ending before the beginning so that you only so much to do. It may sound stupid but try it, and see if you like it.
