If someone from the Jury knows one or more of the people in the trial, their opinion will be biased and they will obviously give the benefit of the doubt to the person whom they will defend and it wouldn't make an equal trial. Not only that but it will also compromise an equal sentence given for each side depending on the situation. so in conclusion they ask the jurors if they know anyone in order to not create a biased opinion.
They ask juniors if they have talked to anyone so they don’t because too bias or unfair
