Charles and Hal buy Buck and his team of dogs after they've traveled thousands of miles delivering mail. The three plan to travel to Dawson with their dog sled. Charles, Hal, and Mercedes make quite the trio. They're foolish and mean to the dogs. Mercedes is especially unprepared for her new life.
