Answer:
Louisa May Alcott one of the March girls named the story Little Women because I think that her and her family were going through a rough time. Like in the book they were struggling and her sister's wanted those cute dresses but they couldn't afford to purchase those thing's. Also she might have called it that because the mood that's going around. Alcott made the name little women because she was peerless coming of age.

This is my thought, but just rephrase it and write a letter using it
Explanation:
I think that the book is called that because the march girls were young in the beginning of the book, and a lot happened to them. They almost had to grow up very fast. They were little girls, but they had to act like little women. They had responsibilities that most young girls wouldn't have at that age (taking care of Beth who was dying, supporting their family by getting jobs, etc.) In that time period, most girls just stayed home and cooked and cleaned. So this was very different than society.
Hope this helps someone! I know its a little jumbled but hope you get my point : )
