So in the photo, I was trying to do an order of operations problem with photomath. But I don’t like to cheat without understanding something, and here I don’t understand.

Photomath subtracted 15-3 first because it’s in para thesis. But there is a 2 next to the parentheses so aren’t you supposed to distribute the 2 to the 15 and 3 and THEN subtract? Or do you not distribute? If so, why?

Answer:

the answer of the complete equation is 0

Step-by-step explanation:

first you multiply by 2 all in the parenthesis, 2(15) and 2(3) you got a 30. Then you do the exponents 3(3) is 9

so you got like this= 30-6+9(4)

You multiply 9 and 4=

30-6+36

and the answer is 0
