This occurs in temperate mountainous regions. Salt wedging occurs at coastal areas where ocean water deposits the salt in the rocks. Peeling is also known as exfoliation and this occurs in desert regions rocks constantly contract and expand as the temperature drastically changes. Biological weathering is caused by plant roots or burrowing animals. Their actions cause rocks to be broken into smaller pieces.
The diagram that does not demonstrate any of these activities is not likely to be mechanical weathering.
