    Since 1 apple weighs 0,25kg, let us find the weight of the apples in the box

Box + apples  = 12kg

weight of box = 2kg

    Weight of apples  = 12kg - 2kg = 10kg

 So;

          0.25kg is the weight of 1 apple;

            10kg  of apples will equal     [tex]\frac{10}{0.25}[/tex]   = 40 apples

Therefore, 40 apples are packed in the box
