People are ashamed to be part of the LGBTQ+ community because in some countries its against the law, its against some religions for example Christianity. Some people don't have accepting family and might be kicked out of the house for being part of the LGBTQ+ community

i'm sure that the third point is kind of obvious; if someone were to be openly lgbtq+ in a state were they aren't legally allowed to be proud, they could be imprisioned or killed.

though it may not be illegal worldwide, that doesn't mean that everyone who lives somewhere where it's legal to be lgbtq+ is accepting. people may be scared of getting rejected upon coming out. this could be losing friendships/romantic partners, getting kicked out by one's family, or becoming ostracized by society.

when one is in an environment that teaches them that it isn't okay to be lgbtq+, they are not going to feel happy with themself upon the realization that they may be gay/trans. they may have been taught at a young age that lgbtq+ people are gross or wrong in someway, making them refuse to accept that not only they are lgbtq+, but that is an okay thing to be.
